The Tantric Goddess and the island of Crete
Hello all!
Haven't written here for a while.
I thought I would like to share what I've written on my One Tantra blog about the Mediterranean island of Crete and the cult of the Goddess.
Enjoy!

Re-connecting God to the Goddess
The Minoan goddess-culture on Crete many thousands of years ago held the Patriarchy and war at bay, possibly longer than anywhere else in what we now usually consider the ancient "civilized world."
Barbara Marciniak and Barbara Hand Clow, in their books from last century(!) recount visions and knowings of how the goddess cult became twisted and barbaric. Which, according to the Barbaras, caused the men to say "Enough!" leading to thousands of years of domination, control, fear, war, atrocities, etc (exactly that which the turning the goddess culture upside down was intended to avoid!)
Maybe the Cretan Goddess culture was not part of the distortion - perhaps it never became warped - but it was overthrown in the end, and Crete became a centre of power-by-enforcement, taking part in wars of attrition like any other self-respecting state. And, like so many places in the "middle of the world" developing deep philosophical and spiritual wisdom at the same time - a wisdom rooted in the intellect and often the heart.
By the time of the common era, it was landing-place to Christian saints, St Paul in particular, and it has been a religious Christian centre more or less ever since (fighting with Islam for supremacy along the way.)
Yet, of course, the Goddess has never died. And now, in these days we are invited, especially through the practice of Tantra, to bring together that which we humans, in our ignorance and fear, have tried to separate. Crete is proud of its Goddess-roots - the Greeks seem to have an ease of acceptance and knowing - they don't need to "brag" about their culture - they know its incredible greatness and depth - and, I suspect, the Goddess is alive and well in the hearts, bodies and minds of this island.
In the Pacific and elsewhere in Oceania the Goddess never "died", of course - perhaps the cult never became distorted in these waters! Now we go to these places to be renewed and find our roots!
So how about Crete?!?! Is it not time to help the patriarchy re-find its connection to the Divine Yoni in the Middle World - in our western centre, in the birthplace of our "civilization"? To marry St Paul to Minoa - to work and play with them into a frenzy of Divine Lust, so that we all can heal? So that we can know in ourselves the Divine Union which our ancestral wound has denied in us!
Come, fellow shamans, let us to it!
